Quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth calculator
Quarter-on-quarter growth compares a quarter with the one before: (this quarter − last quarter) ÷ last quarter × 100. It smooths out a noisy month.
The formula
QoQ = (this quarter − previous quarter) ÷ previous quarter × 100
Worked example: 14.3% quarter on quarter
The example is a UK software company in one month: £50,000 of revenue excluding VAT, 400 customers and £180,000 in the bank.
- (£144,000 − £126,000) ÷ £126,000 × 100 = 14.3%

How to read your result
Quarterly growth is easier to compare with companies that report quarterly. 14% a quarter would be about 70% a year if it kept up.
Watch out for
Watch for quarters with launches or long holidays in them, which make two quarters hard to compare.
