ARPU calculator
ARPU is average revenue per user: revenue in a month divided by the number of customers or users. This calculator uses customers at the end of the period.
The formula
ARPU = revenue a month ÷ customers
Worked example: £119.62 a month
The example is a UK software company in one month: £50,000 of revenue excluding VAT, 400 customers and £180,000 in the bank.
- £50,000 a month ÷ 418 customers = £119.62

How to read your result
Rising ARPU means customers pay more, through price rises, upgrades or a better mix of plans. It feeds straight into lifetime value.
Watch out for
Say whether you divide by paying customers or all users: free users make ARPU look much lower.
