Month-on-month (MoM) growth calculator
Month-on-month growth compares a month with the one before: (this month − last month) ÷ last month × 100.
The formula
MoM = (this month − previous month) ÷ previous month × 100
Worked example: 6.4% month on month
The example is a UK software company in one month: £50,000 of revenue excluding VAT, 400 customers and £180,000 in the bank.
- (£50,000 − £47,000) ÷ £47,000 × 100 = 6.4%

How to read your result
Small numbers grow fast in percentage terms, so show the pounds as well. 6% a month compounds to roughly double over a year.
Watch out for
One big deal or a seasonal month can swing it. Look at three months together before you draw conclusions.
