Editorial Standards

Last updated

Bizztor publishes news, guides and analysis for early-stage startups and student entrepreneurs in the UK. These standards explain how we decide what to publish and how we make sure it is right.

Accuracy and sources

  • We check facts against primary sources wherever we can: company announcements, Companies House, government and regulator publications, court records and original research.
  • We link to our sources so readers can check them, and we say when a figure comes from a company and has not been independently confirmed.
  • Figures carry the date and the source they come from. When a source revises its numbers, we update ours.
  • We keep reporting separate from opinion. Analysis and commentary are labelled as such.

Data articles

When an article is built on data, we name the dataset, its licence and the period it covers, explain how we analysed it, and publish the figures behind each chart so anyone can download and check them.

Bylines and responsibility

Every article names its author. Articles under the Bizztor byline are written and edited by the Bizztor editorial team. Authors' profiles list their role and relevant experience. We use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with research and drafting; an editor reviews, checks and is responsible for everything we publish.

Independence, sponsorship and advertising

  • Editorial decisions are made by Bizztor's editors. Sponsors, partners and advertisers do not choose, review or approve our articles before publication.
  • Sponsored placements and partner promotions are labelled "Sponsored", and paid links are marked as sponsored for search engines.
  • If we write about a company we have a commercial relationship with, we say so in the article.

Dates and updates

Articles show when they were published. When we make a meaningful change to an article, we update its date and, where the change affects the facts, explain it under our corrections policy.
