Startups in Bangalore – India’s Silicon Valley Bangalore has seen a huge number of start-ups sprouting up in the last few years.
Apart from Unicorns Like Flipkart, Inmobi, Mu Sigma, Bangalore is also home for some of the most innovative companies in 2017.
In an effort to bring these Bangalore-based startups to our readers, bizztor has come up with the list of top Bangalore startups.
1. Team Indus
The very first place in the list of Bangalore startups is for the team who are just heading towards Moon.
TeamIndus is the only Indian team competing for the Google Lunar XPRIZE. The $30M Google Lunar XPRIZE is a global competition to challenge and inspire engineers and entrepreneurs to develop low-cost methods of robotic space exploration.
To win, a privately funded team must successfully place a robot on the Moon that explores at least 500 meters and transmits high-definition video and images back to Earth.
Team Indus also secured a contract from ISRO for a PSLV.
In November 2016, they signed a deal with Antrix Corporation, the commercial arm of ISRO for an undisclosed amount, to provide them launch on 28 December 2017
The Indian entrant – TeamIndus will be competing against 29 teams from 17 countries to win the US$20 million grand prize and an additional prize worth US$5 million.
2. Ather Energy
Ather Energy is a start-up focused on designing and selling premium electric two-wheeler for the Indian market.
Ather want to change the perspective about electric vehicles by building high performance, zero maintenance and smart electric vehicles.
Ather Energy is the brainchild of IIT Madras graduates Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, who started working together in 2013 with a singular focus on the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
Ather Energy which counts Tiger Global, Hero Motorcorp, Flipkart founders – Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal – among its investors has so far raised $43 million. Company is building a smart scooter from scratch.
Explara.com is an event ticketing & event management solutions platform offering event discovery to users and event solutions to event organizers.
Explara offers a solution to organize any kind of event, conference, webinars, fundraising and RSVP. Explara helps smoothly organize events with online event presence, event promotion, payment processing, sales management and event logistics.
Launched in 2008, pivoted in 2009 and rebranded in 2013, Explara.com has been serving 10,000+ events in India. In 2013, Explara powered events from 21 countries.
4. Pocket Pill – Pharmacy App
Pocket Pill is a healthcare startup focused on solving the problem of medication non-adherence in early-stage chronic patients.
The only healthcare platform bringing the medical community and patients together to improve patient care.
It helps people to understand about medicine, it’s side effects and uses data analytics to improve medication non-adherence.
Over 70% of the expenditure in healthcare is towards medicines and with 50% of the patients not taking medicines as prescribed, it’s adding unnecessary costs to healthcare.

Their team consists of IIT, BITS, Harvard alums and Chartered Accountants. We consult and partner with Chartered Accountants who have more than 30 years of experience in the area of taxation, finance and accounting.
In 2014, the company became the first India-focused startup to be funded by Y-Combinator.

Ninjacart enables farmers sell their produce directly to shops, and is reaping Rs 5 cr revenue every month.
Ninjacart started its operation in May 2015 as a hyper-local grocery delivery company, after six months of operation, the co-founders including Ashutosh Vikram, IIM-Kozhikode alumnus, Sachin P Jose, with over three years of experience in UI/UX and Vasudevan Chinnathambi, SOIL alumnus, Sharath, Thirukumaran and Kartheeswaran, felt that the backend supply chain of fruits and vegetables was broken and inefficient.
So, by December 2015, the company pivoted the model to become a full-fledged Business To Business (B2B) marketplace, changing the way kirana stores and supermarkets source their supply.

Founded in 2016 by BITS Pilani alumni Shashank Murali, Binay Krishna, & Arjun Krishna, TapChief leverage technology to make the process of discovery seamless and provide end to end service in terms of scheduling and executing the phone calls.

13. Bempu Health
Bempu Health Private Limited develops neonatal temperature monitor.
The Bangalore based medical device social enterprise has been successful in garnering applause from all over the world for setting on a mission to make hypothermic newborn deaths a thing of the past, especially in India, by inventing Bempu, a continuous temperature monitoring bracelet combined with an inbuilt thermometer.
Bempu Health is among 12 global innovators who will receive millions in funding from the US and its partners for their promising ideas to save lives at birth in developing countries.

A Bengaluru-based waste-to-resource startup, Citizengage is a technology startup operating an end-to-end waste management platform. Started in 2015, the startup was co-founded by Pronita Saxena and Ashish Malayil, both in their early thirties.
Citizengage intends to build a platform that lets every household segregate their waste in real-time.
The startup has created a real-time network that connects waste generators to collectors and processors who can then repurpose the waste into a resource.
