Online Coupons venture raised undisclosed amount from Ratan Tata

Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata has invested an undisclosed amount in online cash-back and coupons venture, his third investment in 2016.

The investment comes about two months after raised Rs 25 crore from Kalaari Capital. Tata had joined the Vani Kola-founded VC firm in February last year, in an advisory capacity, with a view to provide guidance to its portfolio companies. will use the proceeds to further build its technology, enter international markets, as well as towards brand awareness and to hire senior-level talent for the company. “We’re launching our cash-back site in Singapore over the next three months, and will also look to enter other markets in South-East Asia. We will also be launching our app in the next two quarters,” Bhargava, an ex-Goldman Sachs employee, told ET. Cashkaro provides customers with cash-backs over and above existing coupons and discounts.

The startup has tied up with over 1,000 online retailers, and claims to have over 10-lakh registered users. does up to 3-lakh transactions every month, with an average transaction ticket size of about $40, according to its co-founder, Swati Bhargava.
