Dunzo to launch its bike services giving UberMoto tough competition

Bengaluru based startup Dunzo plans to launch its bike service by the end of this month in Gurugram. The company currently has 400 weekly active delivery men in Bengaluru.

“It’s just a logical expansion of our operations,” says Kabir Biswas, founder, Dunzo.

Dunzo allows users to create a to-do list and completes the tasks for you. Currently available in Bengaluru, the Dunzo app allows users to create different tasks in their to-do list, track the progress of the tasks, chat with their team members about their tasks and includes a one-tap payment method. Dunzo lets users finish tasks like going to the grocery store, making plans, and fixing something at home.

“Deliveries are horizontal, it doesn’t matter what you are delivering. On an average, traffic for food delivery is 6 hours; morning, afternoon, lunch and dinner, and 4 hours for transportation traffic. Dunzo traffic is almost for 20 hours already. In an effort to make sure that we optimize our delivery men, it’s important that we get into the bike-sharing model. We already know how the business of logistics work, this just makes sense. Dunzo Bike will help us exactly with that, optimization of our delivery model,” added Biswas.

Companies like Ola and Uber already have their bike-sharing models. More and more consumers are slowly and steadily preferring bike sharing services because they are more affordable and less time-consuming. UberMoto, the bike-sharing service is available in nine cities across the country. Ola, in December 2017, launched Ola Pedal, closer to the Ofo and Mobike model of China.

Uber, Ola, and other bike-sharing models are expected to face a tough competition with Dunzo entering the market.

The startup received $12 million from Google in a series B funding in 2017 and since then it has been quickly expanding its operations in India.
