BharatHacks is the first-of-its-kind combination of a hackathon and startup incubation event, particularly to solve problem for India. Programmers, designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs will come together to build products to make the lives of a billion Indians better at BharatHacks Delhi-NCR 2017.
“Hackathons have become too commercial these days. BharatHacks is free for both entrepreneurs and hackers, to join hands and work towards a better India. From a pool of over 1,000 applicants, we’ve chosen the top 200 to particiate at BharatHacks,” said Anand Chowdhary, the CEO of Oswald Foundation and organizer of BharatHacks, “There is no restriction on the topic to build upon, it just has to be a product that solves a particular problem for Indian — it can be anything, an app, a bot, a device, etc.”
After the hacking ends, participants will pitch their products to industry-leading mentors and investors, who will help them take their ideas forward by incubating them to market launch. They will also get the opportunity to raise funds from these investors and through crowdfunding on DesiredWings, India’s largest crowdfunding platform.
Other technology partners at BharatHacks include the cloud infrastructure provider, DigitalOcean, who is offering free servers to all participants, the .tech registry that’s providing free domain names to all participants, and IBM’s Global Entrepreneur Program is expected to select products from BharatHacks and give them thousands of dollars in cloud credits to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey. Apart from them, iSPIRT, the parent organization of IndiaStack, the team behind Aadhaar, UPI, and eKYC APIs are also partnering for the event. Other partners include Neuron, Digio, HackerEarth, Aadhaar Bridge, .tech, F6S, HackSociety, Melangebox, Bizztor, and more.
