In a recent incidence, where self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Raheem was being taken to Rohtak in a helicopter on 26th of August, opposition leaders and a few news portals have falsely claimed the helicopter to be a property of Adani group.
Opposition political leaders and news portals were seen making the most of the situation by gaining eye balls all around the digital medium, especially on Facebook and Twitter. This is just another case in line as a cheap publicity stunt by political parties to malign corporate image, based on un-substantiated evidence on the authenticity of the claims.
Congress leader, Salman Nizami on Saturday tweeted photographs of AgustaWestland choppers AW139 series, one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi getting off and other of Dera Sauda Sacha chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who was yesterday arrested in a 2002 rape case. These choppers are falsely stated as owned by the Adani group.
In response to this story, Adani Group has come forward to put these claims to rest as an absolute lie and a figment of motivated imagination. This news article seems to have been made purely to sensationalize and malign the public image of one of the most respected corporate Group of India namely the Adani Group.
Though the congress leader has not provided the source of these images, it has suddenly become viral on social media, in no time. The congress leader claimed that Dera chief used Adani’s chopper to be airlifted from Panchkula to Rohtak.
The story also found its way to a few news portals like JantaKaReporter (among others). The most probable explanation to this fake news is a WhatsApp message forwarded in the wake of political propaganda and to garner mileage through this incidence.
Twitter audiences also participated and reacted to the fake news later
In the above context, the Adani group has made it amply clear that the group has never leased or owned a helicopter. Hence, the Adani group is not a part of the incident, in any capacity, whatsoever.
