Reading is a hobby of the intellectual that helps calm the mind and unlocks the imagination. In this quick paced time we live in, it has become quite difficult to keep a hobby like reading. One main factor is that people don’t have the time to go libraries and browse the book at ones leisure.
Three avid readers Rushit, Heerak & Jignesh who are old school and college friends have started an initiative bookthisbook to bring the books to the readers rather than the other way around. bookthisbook give books on rent at affordable prices to help the readers enjoy reading without burdening their pockets.
These entrepreneurs wish to help their fellow hobbyists to find the books they need to take a break from their fast paced life and enjoy the pleasure of diving into their own fantasy world. Online book rental platform gives its users a choice from a wide variety of books that they wish to read about either as a hobby, research or self-improvement. The readers get new as well as used books with the facility of a vast catalog, fast and reliable delivery and convenient online shopping. Not only this it helps the upcoming ingenious authors to promote their books among readers in India.
The startup which is operational in Mumbai only, deal in books belonging to various categories such as fiction, non-fiction, management, cookery, religion, astrology, history, children etc. Book readers will also find the idea of renting books to read as appealing as they won’t have to shell out the entire cost of the books to read them. The minimum rental period is a minimum of 10 days and books are delivered and collected from your doorstep.
“Most of our competitors are retailers and have books for sale on their website and usual book stores. Even with their discounts, the cost of renting books at ‘bookthisbook’ is far cheaper than purchasing them on other website. Even those that offer books on rent, ask their readers to pay a membership fee to avail their services, which is quite high as compared to our FREE membership. We only charge our readers rent on books ordered basis,” said Rushit Dawda.
“Online book renting is a relatively new concept in India and with the right promotion; we feel that book readers will also find the idea appealing. Giving books on rent will help our readers enjoy reading without burdening their pockets. We also help our readers to discover books from lesser known authors. This helps readers to read a wide variety of books that they usually might not read,” said Heerak Sangani.
Jignesh said, “our goal is to build a platform where book lovers can come together and discuss their interests with like minded people and if they want to then they can exchange books with others or put up their books for rent. We also want to create a platform where new authors can come and showcase their work so that the readers become aware of them and their works.”
